Policy and public affairs
We work with stakeholders to influence the nursing and midwifery agenda
We do this by:
- ensuring we are informed on the development and interpretation of healthcare policy in a rapidly changing healthcare and political environment
- spreading information to key audiences about our activity and position on relevant issues
- influencing key opinion formers and policy makers in order to further the aims of the NMC and so increase public protection.
The nursing and midwifery regulator for England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Islands
We are responsible for regulation across the four countries of the UK, and our political focus is not limited to Westminster.
As devolution continues to evolve and distinctive policy agendas develop from Belfast, Cardiff, and Edinburgh, the NMC is building relationships with devolved governments.
The NMC also maintains close partnerships with colleagues and decision makers in Europe, to help ensure we are able to influence EU legislation in the interests of patients and the public.
Fitness to Practise
Our Fitness to Practise publication and disclosure policy is available to download or read online. This policy sets out the approach of the NMC to the routine publication and disclosure of fitness to practise information.
