On Thursday 19 March the contact centre will be closed for staff training. We apologise for any inconvenience and will be open as normal again on Friday 20 March.

Please try to avoid peak times – Monday all day, Tuesday– Friday, 10:00– 12:00.

Bogus phone calls

We have received phone calls from nurses and midwives who have reported that callers posing as NMC staff are asking for their pin, mobile numbers and email addresses. The caller claims that the NMC will be sending all reminders by text in the future and need this information to be able to update their details.

Anybody contacting you from the NMC will always leave their name and contact details. Please do not volunteer your personal information to callers.

Discussing your registration with a third party

From 1 November 2013 onwards, if you would like a third party (such as a relative or nursing agency/company) to contact us on your behalf concerning your registration, we must have written confirmation from you.

If we have not received this letter, we will not be able to provide any information to the third party regarding your registration. Please note that the third party request will take five working days to appear on the applicants file. We will be unable to discuss any details until this process is complete.

Employers are already able to access this information via the caller code and password
