Making a referral
Important information and actions you should take before you make a referral
Every day, employers, managers and supervisors deal with situations concerning the misconduct, lack of competence, bad character or poor health of nurses and midwives. Most of this can be managed locally through internal disciplinary procedures and do not give rise to wider concerns about the public’s health and wellbeing.
This section will help you decide if you have a case to refer to us, what you should do and what information you will need.
If you are making a referral in a professional capacity but are not the employer of the nurse or midwife, please see making a referral as a third party organisation.
