Insubstantial enquiries

Simply making us aware of an issue

Sometimes members of the public and employers contact the NMC when they just want to make us aware of an issue and not take it any further. Please note that in these circumstances we don't have the powers to hold such information and cannot do anything with it. When we are notified of issues in this way, we may however decide to launch our own investigation.

If you are unsure – ask us for help and advice

We always welcome informal enquiries and you can contact us at any stage – whether you have just learnt about an incident and are about to embark on an internal investigation, or are at the point of considering an official referral to us.
