FtP hearings and decisions

The NMC is required by legislation (NMC Order 2001, Article 22(9)) to identify nurses and midwives and provide decisions made in relation to their cases heard by the various FtP panels.

We do this to be accessible, visible and accurate and prevent cases of misidentification. Details of nurses and midwives affected by FtP panel decisions are released to employers and the public.

We do not name nurses and midwives with a referral made against them until the case comes to a public hearing. Cases considered by the Investigating Committee panel (initial stage) that are subsequently closed are never made public.

Decisions on the NMC website are no more than four months old, as after three months orders may be changed by another panel's decision. All previous decisions and reasons are available on request from FtP.
