About the 2008 edition
The last edition of the standards was published in 2006.

Since then we've analysed its impact on programme placement providers and responded to enquiries received about the standards since publication.

Nothing fundamental has changed in the new edition – the key principles and the developmental framework of roles to support learning and assessment in practice which were introduced in 2006 remain unchanged.

However, a number of circulars which were issued during 2007/08 to support implementation of the standards and clarify specific aspects have been incorporated into the new edition.

An overview of the policy developments which have affected these standards is also included.
