First appointed as a lay member of the NMC in August 2007.
University lecturer, teaching British history and British studies to overseas students at the University of Bath, previously at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
She is also an independent member of interview panels for the Judicial Appointments Commission.
Background
Christina's involvement in health issues goes back to 1985, when she was nominated by the National Childbirth Trust to Somerset Community Health Council and was later elected vice-chair.
She chaired Avalon NHS Trust and led its merger with the mental health services of Somerset County Council to form Somerset Partnership, the first integrated health and social care trust in Great Britain.
From 2004-2005 she was interim chair of North Somerset PCT and from 2002-2007 she was a lay reviewer for the Healthcare Commission. Until September 2008 she was regional chair of Postwatch, the consumer council for postal services. Christina lives in Wales.
